Email a professor
A first email to a professor works best when it shows you know their work. The Twin reads the professor's papers, finds where your experience fits and drafts an email for you to review and send.

An example.
Write an email
- On a professor's page, select Draft an email in the ApplyKite Twin box, or
- on a position, select Draft an email to write to its supervisor, or
- in ApplyKite Twin, ask "Write an email to Professor [name] about a PhD."
The Twin writes the subject and the email. Ask for changes in your own words: "Shorter", "Mention my thesis on…", "More formal." Then copy it into your own email and send it yourself. ApplyKite never emails professors for you.
Follow-ups and replies
- No answer after a week or two? Ask "Write a follow-up to Professor [name]."
- They replied? Paste their reply and ask "Help me answer this."
Then update the status in your Tracker, for example Sent email, In contact or Interview, or ask the Twin to do it.
Find professors first
Not sure who to write to? Ask the Twin "Find professors working on [your topic] in [country]", use Where to apply, or search professors.
